Like I said … I’m a book nerd. And because I have an obsessive need to share, here’s what I’m currently reading:

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. We were supposed to read this in high school, but I was busy skipping class and smoking cigarettes on the baseball diamonds. Oh, high school. How I almost failed you.

Previous reads:

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, which is a knock-your-socks-off kind of book. It’s got a little bit of everything – dystopia, battle-to-the-death violence, a non-sappy romance angle, and great characters. Technically geared towards YA, but most adults I know would love this one, too.

Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore. If you know me, you know I’m a skeptic when it comes to all things religion, but this is a hilarious take on the goings-on of Jesus’s formative years, as told by his much less holy and much more likeable best friend. This is the first book I’ve read by Christopher Moore, but I will definitely be checking out some of his others.

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, which is pretty much the West Side story of … wherever this is located.  It’s a bit campy, but I dug it.

Interview With the Vampire by Ann Rice, the vampire book that started it all. Wah-wah. This one was just OK. The creepy little vampire really skeeved me out.

This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen by Tadeusz Borowski, which is a collection of really gut-wrenching, harrowing stories of life in the concentration camps during WWII by someone who lived through them. It’s a very uncomfortable read, but an important story to be told.
